The most common product in the family of geosynthetics is nonwoven geotextiles. This product is a random assembly of synthetic fibres, commonly polypropylene and polyester.
Nonwoven geotextiles are mostly treated during production with Ultra Violet Stabilizers. The weight range of this product in civil engineering applications are typically from 120gsm to 1200gsm.
Nonwoven geotextiles display strength with high elongation. Its main function is filtration and separation. Its applications include:
| • |
road construction, highways and highway embankments |
| • |
