Silt Curtain (Silt Protector) suspend a flexible curtain membrane that is made of high strength woven polyester geotextiles with floats that hang the curtain in the water together with anchoring to stabilize the whole silt protection system.

 

Functions of Silt Curtain

 

The purpose of the silt protector curtain is to prevent diffusion of pollution generated by dredging and reclamation works on the seas or rivers. Researches of marine life and organisms have found that fine silt particles can affect the living conditions of sea creatures and its environment.

 

Structural Analysis

 

The specification for the Silt Protector to be used are determined by the following factors:

· wind speed

· current speed

· wave height

· height of the silt curtain

· depth of water

· tidal range

 

With these parameters, we can design the Silt Protector complete with float sizes, chain weight, silt curtain strength, and anchoring system.
